Its pipeline includes long-acting helicase-primase inhibitor programs ABI-5336 and ABI-1179, both in Phase 1a/1b studies for recurrent genital herpes, as well as ABI-4334, a capsid assembly modulator being studied in Phase 1b for hepatitis B virus. The company is also advancing ABI-6250, an oral hepatitis delta virus entry inhibitor in Phase 1a testing, and ABI-7423, an oral broad-spectrum non-nucleoside polymerase inhibitor aimed at transplant-related herpesviruses. Assembly Biosciences has an option, license, and collaboration agreement with Gilead Sciences for virology research and development. Founded in 2005 and headquartered in South San Francisco, California, the company was formerly known as Ventrus Biosciences, Inc.
