Avista Corporation is a U.S. electric and natural gas utility company listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker AVA. Through its subsidiaries, the company operates in two segments: Avista Utilities and Alaska Electric Light and Power Company. Avista Utilities serves customers in parts of eastern Washington, northern Idaho, and portions of Oregon, providing electric and natural gas distribution and transmission services, along with electricity generation and wholesale power and gas transactions. The Alaska Electric Light and Power Company segment supplies electric service in Juneau, Alaska. Avista generates electricity from hydroelectric, thermal, wind, and solar facilities. As of December 31, 2025, it served about 429,000 retail electric customers, 386,000 retail natural gas customers, and 17,600 electric customers. Founded in 1889 and headquartered in Spokane, Washington, the company was formerly known as Washington Water Power before adopting its current name in 1999.
