Foreign Trade Bank of Latin America Inc (BLX) is the common stock of Banco Latinoamericano de Comercio Exterior, S. A., a multinational bank headquartered in Panama City, Panama. The bank focuses on financing foreign trade and economic integration across Latin America and the Caribbean. Its activities are organized into Commercial and Treasury segments. In its commercial business, the bank provides bilateral short- and medium-term loans, structured and syndicated credits, loan commitments, letters of credit, guarantees, co-financing arrangements, syndicated credit underwriting, structured trade finance, factoring, vendor financing, and financial leasing. The Treasury segment includes investment management activities and positions in securities measured at fair value through other comprehensive income and amortized cost. The bank serves financial institutions, corporations, sovereigns, and state-owned entities. Founded in 1975, it adopted its current name in June 2009.
