The business is organized into two segments: Salt and Plant Nutrition. Its Salt segment produces and sells sodium chloride and magnesium chloride products, including rock salt, mechanically and solar-evaporated salt, and brine and flake magnesium chloride, as well as related specialty products made with potassium chloride and calcium chloride. These products are used for roadway deicing, consumer and professional applications, chemical production, water treatment, and human and animal nutrition. The Plant Nutrition segment produces sulfate of potash specialty fertilizers, turf and ornamental products, and organic products for distributors, retailers, and growers. The company was founded in 1844, was formerly known as Salt Holdings Corporation, and is headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas.
