Kirby Corporation is a U.S.-based industrial company listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker KEX. Through its Marine Transportation segment, the company provides marine transport and towing services for bulk liquid cargoes across the Mississippi River System, the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, and coastal routes along U.S. shores, including Alaska and Hawaii. Its cargo mix includes petrochemicals, refined petroleum products, black oils, and agricultural chemicals. Kirby also operates offshore dry-bulk barges and tugboats used in coastal dry-bulk transportation.
In addition, the company’s Distribution and Services segment supports a range of industrial and marine applications through parts sales, equipment rebuilding, rentals, and manufacturing activities. Its work includes components for engines, transmissions, electrical systems, energy storage equipment, and oilfield service products. Founded in 1921 and headquartered in Houston, Texas, Kirby Corporation was formerly known as Kirby Exploration Company, Inc. before adopting its current name in 1990.
