PennyMac Mortgage Investment Trust (NYSE: PMT) is a mortgage REIT focused on residential mortgage-related assets in the United States. Organized as a common stock listing, the trust operates through three main segments: Credit Sensitive Strategies, Interest Rate Sensitive Strategies, and Correspondent Production. Its activities include investing in credit risk transfer agreements, subordinate and credit-linked mortgage-backed securities, mortgage servicing rights, agency and non-agency MBS, and collateralized mortgage obligations, together with related interest rate hedging. Through its correspondent production business, the trust purchases, pools, and resells newly originated prime-quality loans, primarily to government-sponsored enterprises. Incorporated in 2009 and headquartered in Westlake Village, California, PennyMac Mortgage Investment Trust has elected REIT status for U.S. federal tax purposes.
