Its operations are organized into three segments: Retirement, Investment Management, and Employee Benefits. The Retirement segment provides retirement products, recordkeeping, stable value and fixed general account investment products, non-qualified plan administration, and retirement-focused guidance and support, while also offering wealth management services such as IRAs, managed accounts, brokerage accounts, and advisory services. The Employee Benefits segment includes insurance products and employer benefit services such as stop loss, group life, disability, critical illness, accident, hospital indemnity, benefits administration, and leave management. The Investment Management segment offers fixed income, equity, multi-asset, and alternative solutions to individual and institutional clients through multiple distribution channels. Founded in 1975, the company was previously known as ING U.S., Inc. and adopted its current name in 2014.
