Freeport-McMoRan Inc. is a Phoenix, Arizona-based mining company incorporated in 1987 and listed on the NYSE under the symbol FCX. The company focuses on the extraction and exploration of mineral properties across North America, South America, and Indonesia, with primary exposure to copper and gold as well as molybdenum, silver, and other metals. Its asset base includes the Grasberg minerals district in Indonesia and several operating locations in the United States, including Morenci, Bagdad, Safford, Sierrita, Miami, Chino, Tyrone, Henderson, and Climax. Outside the U.S., the company also has interests in Cerro Verde in Peru and El Abra in Chile. Formerly known as Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc., the company adopted its current name in July 2014.
