Rio Tinto ADR (NYSE: RIO) is a depositary receipt representing ordinary shares of Rio Tinto Group, a multinational mining company headquartered in London, United Kingdom. The underlying issuer explores, mines, and processes mineral resources across a range of operations worldwide. Its activities are organized into iron ore, aluminium and lithium, and copper segments. The iron ore business includes mining operations in Western Australia, along with salt and gypsum production. The aluminium and lithium segment covers bauxite mining, alumina refining, aluminium smelting and recycling, as well as lithium mining and processing. The copper segment is involved in mining and refining copper, gold, silver, molybdenum, and related by-products, in addition to exploration work. Rio Tinto also operates open-pit and underground mines, along with refineries, smelters, processing plants, power facilities, and shipping assets.
