NextEra Energy, Inc. is a U.S. electric utility company headquartered in Juno Beach, Florida, and its common stock is listed on the NYSE under the ticker NEE. Through its subsidiaries, the company generates, stores, transmits, distributes, and sells electric power to retail and wholesale customers across North America. Its operations are organized primarily through Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) and NEER. NextEra Energy generates electricity from wind, solar, nuclear, natural gas, and other clean energy assets, and it also invests in and operates generation, storage, transmission, and distribution infrastructure. In addition, the company is involved in wholesale energy market activities and participates in natural gas, natural gas liquids, and oil production. As of December 31, 2025, it reported about 35,963 megawatts of net generating capacity, roughly 93,000 circuit miles of transmission and distribution lines, and 932 substations. The company was founded in 1925 and was previously known as FPL Group, Inc. before adopting its current name in 2010.
