Archer-Daniels-Midland Company (ADM) is a Chicago-based consumer staples company focused on human and animal nutrition ingredients and solutions. Founded in 1902, the company operates on the NYSE as common stock and conducts business in the United States and internationally, including Switzerland, the Cayman Islands, Brazil, Mexico, Canada, and the United Kingdom. ADM’s operations are organized into three segments: Ag Services and Oilseeds, Carbohydrate Solutions, and Nutrition.

The company is involved in sourcing, transporting, storing, and merchandising agricultural raw materials, as well as crushing and processing oilseeds such as soybeans, cottonseed, sunflower seed, canola, rapeseed, and flaxseed. It also produces vegetable oils, protein meals, peanut ingredients, cotton cellulose pulp, and a range of corn- and wheat-based products. In its Nutrition segment, ADM develops and sells ingredients and solutions including plant-based proteins, flavors, colors, emulsifiers, fiber products, probiotics, enzymes, and other specialty food and feed ingredients. Additional activities include derivatives and commodity exchange services, clearing house-related operations, insurance coverage for selected risks, and carbon capture and other emissions-reduction initiatives.
