Huntington Ingalls Industries Inc. is an American aerospace and defense company focused on military shipbuilding and related support activities. Through its Ingalls, Newport News, and Mission Technologies segments, the company designs, builds, overhauls, and repairs ships for the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard. Its shipbuilding work includes amphibious assault ships, surface combatants, national security cutters, aircraft carriers, and submarines, along with refueling, overhaul, and inactivation services for nuclear-powered carriers.
The company also provides naval nuclear support services, including design, construction, maintenance, and disposal activities for in-service nuclear ships, as well as maintenance work on nuclear reactor prototypes. In addition, Huntington Ingalls Industries offers mission-focused capabilities such as C5ISR systems, artificial intelligence and machine learning applications for battlefield decisions, cyberspace and electronic warfare solutions, uncrewed autonomous systems, live and virtual training solutions, platform modernization, and critical nuclear operations. The company was founded in 1886 and is headquartered in Newport News, Virginia.
