Imperial Oil Ltd. is a Canadian energy company listed on the NYSE under the ticker IMO. As a common equity security, it represents ownership in a company whose activities span exploration, production, refining, transportation, and marketing of crude oil, natural gas, and petroleum products in Canada. Its operations are organized into three segments: Upstream, Downstream, and Chemical.
The Upstream segment focuses on crude oil, natural gas, synthetic crude oil, and bitumen production. Downstream covers refining, product blending, distribution, and the transport of petroleum products through pipelines, tanker, rail, and road networks, as well as terminal and pipeline operations in Alberta, Manitoba, and Ontario. The Chemical segment produces and markets aliphatic solvents, plasticizer intermediates, polyethylene resins, and refinery-grade propylene, while also supplying petrochemicals. Incorporated in 1880 and headquartered in Calgary, Imperial Oil is a subsidiary of Exxon Mobil Corporation.
